If you don’t want to use Google anymore, you may remove pictures from your cloud and all other synced devices on your phone. The original pictures will be kept in your Camera folder on Android devices or the Photos Gallery on an iPhone.
If you use the Google Photos app as a gallery app to look at your pictures but don’t enable the Backup and sync option, no matter how many times you uninstall it, no photo will be lost. That is, even if you remove the program on both Android and iPhone, no picture will be lost.
By default, Google Photos disables the backup and sync functionality. When you first set up Google Photos on your phone, it saves photographs and videos in your camera folder to the cloud storage account linked with your Google account.
When you use Google photos, many of your pictures will have hidden information embedded inside them that reveals the time and place of capture, as well as the device you were using and even camera settings. Google claims it does this because it wants to analyze EXIF data.
Google Photos is a secure platform. Your images aren’t immediately uploaded to the internet. They won’t be able to google them. Unless you share your pictures with other people, they are only visible to you.
